I think that David is saying to serve with a glad heart and not a bostful heart because you may have done somthing good but you put that good thing down by running around and spreading the news you did something good. Compared to keeping it in your heart because God doenst see our outside but looks for our heart where he sees an lives. So it is better to hold it an have gods blessing than the blessings of the others. This is what I feel David (God speaking threw David) is saying.
